Search for your favorite artists; find their top-40 hits, the year of the top-40 hit's peak popularity and all the domestic compact discs that contain those top-40 hits. Each will also have the associated record label and catalog number. Pertinent comments such as "rerecording," "live," "LP version," "mastered from vinyl," "alternate take" or "poor stereo separation" will follow each CD listing. You may also search by song title if you do not recall the name of the artist. This electronic publication will give you a powerful search engine. You may perform your own research on topics like "how many and which songs from the '60s are still not available on compact disc?" and many other questions. Most importantly, the TOP 40 MUSIC ON COMPACT DISC database is updated on an almost-daily basis. Plus, you will have instant access to any additions for the next year!

The following genres of compact discs are not currently referenced:
1) Import compact discs
2) Compact discs that contain obviously live versions of original studio recordings
3) Special promotional samplers that will never be available for retail sale
4) CD singles

The database includes more than 33,000 compact discs. The newest additions are highlighted in green type and will remain that way for a one-year period. The domestic compact discs included in this book are chosen entirely at the author's discretion. Due to the burgeoning popularity of used compact disc stores, out-of-print compact discs will still be included, along with the currently available titles.
